as a note to the above. . ..funny how Andre says he is an uncontrolable liar and he lies all the time. . .and then PEOPLE actually believe what somewhat else wrote for him in his book. . .he has a sixth grade education. . .to clarify. . .we had a chair umpire in that match that I called on him because he was cheating so badlly. . .she over ruled him when he was up match point and then supported my call when i was up match point. . .how can anyone refute this with a chair umpire and ten witnesses, that still account that day clearly. . . he was delirious afte the beat his dad gave him after that match. . .he did n't mention my name as the team w/john flabo. . .that he had to take speed for the first time to win. . .Jeff Tarango and David Wheaton. . .he also lies about his time in LA "eating out of cans" he was in Mike Joyce's BH guest house with a two meals cooked by Mikes mom a day and a private court and a $25,000 ball machine, that serves to you. Where was that ? Who converted him the first time to born again Christian ? thanks for the nice comments, folks. i've never come close to winning one of these things, so this is a nice surprise. @herbcohn: yea, the third set was a bit of a rollercoaster, particularly the breaker, but fed did what he does -- dig deep and pull it out.

@svtennis: well, he hasn't (yet), but if the whole purpose of a bracket challenge is to try to correctly pick the draw and win, fed would be a pretty good bet... i've gathered by your comments on other draws that you're not a big fan of people who don't pick too many upsets since playing the seeds or the odds isn't risky (and thus won't win someone any "respect"). it's just as likely that you'll lose if you pick solely based on seedings, so obviously there's incentive to pick some upsets -- it's just picking the right ones (e.g. cilic over delpo; tsonga over djokovic; murray over nadal). and, for the record, not everyone thought fed would win this tournament -- just look at the person in first place right now.

If Federer plays like he did last night it may be the 2008 US Open all over again and lights out for Murray. For me to have a chance Murray will have to step up and try to disrupt Federer's rhythm. We'll see what happens. It is definitely chancy not to go with Fed in a Grand Slam final, where he has proven himself so many times before. I'm just hoping Murray is mature enough and ready to dig his heels in and go for the prize.

whatt is all the complaints. He did pick several upsets and he has a killer draw. Good luck. Fed and Tsonga will be a great match. Fed want go down with out a fight. Murray should win it all I think but even that is a toss up. I am a big Fed Fan but saying that Andy is hunger as well as Tsonga. They both have what it takes to win a slam. @svtennis- Picking upsets for no reason doesn't mean you know more about tennis. The fact that kdctennis is in the lead proves that. It's all about particular match-ups, i.e. Tsonga and Djokovic. Although statiscally an upset according to the rankings, Tsonga has a winning head-to-head record against Djokovic. That would be an intelligent "upset" to chose rather than just choosing one for the sake of choosing an upset, with no real thought behind it.

I have to ask the same question as colt99, Andre mentions you twice in his book. The 1st time, OK, but then then he rips you later when he played you on the ATP tour. What gives? Granted he needs to get over it, he learned later that it is "gamesmanship". I tell my kid, "if a player calls an obvious shot out, then do it back to him on the next point and if your opponent complains, then get the tournament referee over an explain to him why you're calling "gamesmanship points". What you did as a kid was not nice, but Andre needed to get over it. Maybe he mentions it because of your relationship with him on the tour.

If Davydenko beats Fed, this guy has a chance. I picked Cilic in an upset in the final. I saw him come close to getting Del Potro out at the US Open. Cilic could've faced Fed in the final. It may happen here. But Roddick is dead on. He got a gift from Gonzo, anyway, we'll see about Davy ending Fed's streak of 22 majors in a row in the semi-finals. BTW, 1st post.......Mr. Jeff Tarango.......how do you feel about what Agassi said about you in his book about cheating him in the juniors when he was 8? He must not like you to hold a grudge that long.

I agree Jema, why would you pick Tommy Haas to go that far? I didn't see anyway he could beat Tsonga, but then you picked him to get by Almagro (very possible) and Djokivic (are you high?) I don't see Davy beating Federer in the quarters either. Davy looked pretty good the first few rounds, but against Verdasco he looked very shaky and uncomfortable playing on the big stage. Federer made Lleyton Hewitt look foolish tonight. Federer just has too much game for Davydenko.

I have Roddick in the finals too but with Federer winning it all. I just dont see Davydenko beating Federer in a major, he's never been able to come good at the grand slams. They way Roddick plays his last match against Feliciano Lopez the level of game that he shows I don't see him going all the way in fact I can see him going down against the chilean gonzales . another thing davydenko has a good run at the end of last year good ok, but remember must of the top players where all ready exhausted for the long season , like nalbandian did the previous year good run at the end :-)

unfortunate problem: these early rounds are nothing. The only way to win a prize when there are 4,000+ people is to predict the champion. So even if junkie continues his success and then roddick loses before the final, or worse yet davydenko does, he will come away with nothing. Good start but you're gonna lose lots of points toward the end......there is no way that Roddick can make it to the final....and Davydenko upsetting Fed is even more unbelievable......that's not a 2 out of 3 sets plus if Fed wants a revenge on a big stage he will surely get it.....he might not win the tournament but i think that if he gets to play Nikolay he will blow him away. But let's wait and see :)

on connaît la qualité de l'Italienne mais ce qui me dérange c'est cette déroute dans la dernière manche. Je trouve que son niveau de jeu revient petit à petit mais il y a encore des choses à gommer. Dans l'ensemble, nous avons un tournoi très ouvert aussi bien chez les hommes que chez les femmes.

Richard Gasquet et Mikhail Youzhny ont livré un match complètement fou avec une belle qualité de jeu. Dans ce genre de rencontre on aimerait que le match nul soit possible mais il fallait bien un vainqueur dans ce duel entre deux des meilleurs revers à une main du circuit. Il sont francaise. On a tout eu dans cette rencontre avec des rebondissements incessants qui ont donné un côté dramatique à ce mano a mano. Mais moi j'ai vu un nouveau Richard Gasquet et j'ai aimé son attitude. Tout au long du match il a pourtant su être offensif, sauf à ce moment-là.

Nice if Roddick could win, not that I am an American - this young fellow is long due on a grand slam win.
